Content Sharing & Copyright

Q: Can I Share Your Content?

Basically- don’t be a jerk and steal my hard work. This is what I do ‘for a living’ and is deeply personal to my heart, head, and soul.

If you are a non-profit or another blogger, do not re-publish my text, photos or recipes as your own. You may use recipes for inspiration, share 1 or 2 photos, or quote small sections of article text, but you MUST link back to the blog post with credit to Melissa Keyser, at Quarter Moon Living. My photos may be shared on Instagram with credit mentioned to @melissakeyser.

If you are a for-profit business or company, please inquire about my rates before using any of my photographs or text.

Q: What theme are you using?

I’m using the Oleander theme from Solo Pine, with slight modifications. I highly recommend this company!

Q: Who did your branding?

A beautiful, kindred soul who was fabulous to work with, Emmeline Bramble.

Photography

Q: Do you take your own pictures?

Unless mentioned in a photo credit, I take all of the pictures on my site. Any stock photos come from Unsplash, and will be noted.

Q: What kind of camera and equipment do you use?

Most of my photos are taken with a Sony Mirrorless 6300. I usually use a 16-50mm kit lens for flatlay and lifestyle photos, a 30mm 3.5 macro lens for detailed garden shots, or a 55-210 zoom lens for wildlife. Occasionally, photos are from my ‘vintage’ iPhone 5.

I shoot only in natural lighting and edit using Adobe Lightroom.

Q: Can I share your photos?

About Melissa

Q: Where did you learn all this stuff?

My basic nature and gardening knowledge came from my parents, learned by osmosis from being around my mom as she worked in the garden and my dad as he did tree work, foraged for mushrooms or hiked around in the woods.

More formal environmental knowledge came from my degrees in Environmental Studies and Geology from the University of California, Santa Cruz. I also learned a lot from working as a naturalist and teaching environmental education.

I’ve taken a few classes here and there but mostly taught myself how to cook, preserve, and a variety of other “homesteading” skills.

I have studied Intuitive Plant Medicine with Asia Suler, and Herbalism through New England Herbal Academy and Chestnut Herbs.

Q: Where did you live?

Currently, I am in Sacramento, California, which is USDA gardening zone 9b. However, we have a move in the future- so stay tuned!

Q: What do you do for “work”?

I do some freelance writing and am in the process of starting a professional organizing business.

Q: How do you have time to do all this stuff?

I don’t have human children and I make this lifestyle a priority!
